Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.
