The celebrated English actor Helen Mirren, previously recipient of an Academy Award, four Baftas, Globes trophies, five Emmys, along with a Tony Award, is poised to earn an additional prestigious accolade to her collection: the Cecil B DeMille Globes' lifetime achievement award.

Ceremony Details

The actress, octogenarian, formerly made a dame in 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow in the year 2014, will accept this honor during a presentation January 8, just prior to the primary Globes ceremony occur, within an event billed by the Globes as Golden Eve.

Also part of the event will be the presentation of the organization’s Carol Burnett honor for small-screen contributions, the recipient of which remains unannounced. Previous recipients included Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.

“Helen Mirren is an unstoppable talent, and her professional journey is truly extraordinary,” said Helen Hoehne, Helen Hoehne. “Her transcendent performances and devotion to her art persistently influence numerous actors and viewers as well. It is a profound honour to award her the DeMille prize.”

Professional Journey

The star became well-known in the 1970s through significant parts in stage productions in the West End of London and with the RSC and in cinematic works like O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her starring role in the investigative show Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase even more. Other important films feature Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She won an Oscar for her performance as the Queen in the 2006 movie The Queen, a part she returned to back in 2013 for The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan regarding the encounters involving the monarch and premier Thatcher, a performance for which she received a Tony Award during 2015.

• Subsequent cinematic works feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, which she narrated.
