Much like Storm Claudia tore through the north-west the prior day, the home side swept the visitors away at the Etihad. It was a convincing three-nil triumph for Andrée Jeglertz’s side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that firmly established their leadership claims as they strengthened their standing at the league summit.

Successive Losses for United

This scoreline marked successive WSL losses for the United manager's side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, placing them a significant margin off the top team with their title hopes severely dented.

Manchester United's capacity to balance league and European soccer with a thin roster has been a hotly discussed topic since they qualified for the UCL. Lineup Adjustments

The hosts, on the other hand, could have added to their advantage when a superb Miedema long ball sent Shaw away only for her to fail to convert but it was insignificant to the winning team. Having failed to overcome any opponent who placed above them in the prior term, Jeglertz’s side now have successes against Arsenal and Manchester United to position them in a strong standing after nine matches.
