The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Salah apologised to the team in the wake of the controversy from his public comments.
The Fallout
The striker was dropped from a European match following criticising the club and stating his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, please accept my apology.’”
The manager has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.
The midfielder also noted that a competitor wanting to play is a positive trait. “I understand there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
Liverpool's form have been impressive in the games following the interview fallout. Jones believes the forward's comments were not designed to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, playing well and starting to win games.”
